Development of a scientific temper is our fundamental duty. Our constitution says so. Here’s an excerpt from the IISF site highlighting the same:
Scientific temper is fundamental to innovation. It is an attitude of mind to scientific methods influencing the way we think and approach our problems. This attitude must be nurtured and promoted to achieve greater heights as a people and as a country. It is pertinent here to recall Section V of our Constitution, Article 51A on ‘Fundamental Duties’ that begins by saying: “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India…” In the enumeration of such duties, sub-clause (h) says: “To develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform”.
